Dr Fatimah Fanusie is an historian of American history, she is also a student of the development of Islam in America.  Her research projects have included an MA thesis on the cultivation of Islam in Boston under the Nation of Islam, titled "Doing for Self!: The Nation of Islam's Temple No. 11 and its Impact on Social and Economic Development of Boston's African-American Community, 1948-1968."  Dr. Fanusie's research interests include the history of American religious development from the seventeenth through twentieth centuries, twentieth-century Islamic development in America and comparative historical Islamic development.  Her doctoral dissertation, "Fard Muhammad in Historical Context: An Islamic Thread in the American Religious and Cultural Quilt" explores the Indian Ahmadiyya background of Fard Muhammad and the early history of the Nation of Islam through a comparative Islamic framework.  

She received her BA in History and Arabic from Lincoln University (1997), obtained her MA in American History at Tufts University, (2001) and her PhD in American History from Howard University in May, 2008
